I feel kind of uncomfortable writing about myself, but here goes.

I am a 50+ male living with my wife of 30+ years in Wigan in the North West of England. We have two children, both are grown up and have kind of left home now.

I currently work for the local council with some kind of responsibility for reducing the numbers of people not working in Wigan – I love my job (sad I know).

I have not always worked for the local council. For over 25 years I worked in the IT Industry for such companies as Hewlett Packard and Microsoft. Thankfully, my current job has nothing to do with computers which I find very refreshing. I still keep in touch with former colleagues from the IT world and find it sort of sad that some of them still believe everything revolves around computers.

I am a daft keen Bolton Wanderers supporter and have been man and boy despite always living in Wigan. Somehow I just cant bring myself to support the mud hutters (Wigan Athletic) but do follow Wigan Rugby. My other interests include playing golf, owning a holiday property in the lake District, investing in property and shares, skiing and I still maintain an interest in IT.

I have kind of grown into this blogging thing, having first started over three years ago when I wanted to vent my frustration and anger at an unjustified price increase in site fees at Fallbarrow Park where we have our lodge. I was quite amazed and surprised at the number of absolute strangers who started to read my Blog – over one thousand a month at times. That does generate a certain kind of pressure to write something for writings sake. But is does also bring satisfaction that some folks in cyberworld are interested in my rants and ravings.

Hopefully, this Blog will be as interesting as my first efforts. Your feedback is welcome.
